Acceptance of applications for Fulbright scholarships

The Kyiv office of the Institute of International Education has started accepting applications for the Fulbright Scholarship competition for study, internship, and research at American universities for the 2022/23 academic year as a part of the Fulbright foreign student program.

Senior students and graduates of higher education institutions can apply to participate in the Fulbright graduate student program. It involves studying at American universities for one to two years for a master’s degree. The Fulbright Ukrainian Office will consider applications for the following areas of specialization: humanities, social, exact, technical, natural sciences. The deadline for submission of documents is May 16, 2021.

Young teachers and researchers can participate in two programs.

The Fulbright research and development program involves six to nine months of research at US universities. This competition is open to persons under the age of 40 with two years of professional experience: teachers; graduate students and researchers who do not yet have a degree; candidates of sciences; administrators of higher education institutions; employees of research institutions; journalists; specialists in the library, museum, and archival affairs; specialists in the field of culture management; employees of public organizations. The deadline for submission of documents is November 1, 2021.

The Fulbright foreign language teaching assistant program is a nine-month internship in teaching Ukrainian (assisting American teachers) at US universities/colleges. This program is open to beginning teachers and young professionals under the age of 30 who specialize in linguistics, Ukrainian literature, translation studies, communications, journalism, American studies, and English language teaching. Applicants must have a master’s or bachelor’s degree at the time of the scholarship (July 2022). The deadline for submission of documents is June 1, 2021.

Candidates and doctors of sciences, researchers, and specialists can take part in the competition for the Fulbright visiting scholar program scholarship. It involves research in US universities, research centers, libraries, museums, archives, etc. for three to nine months. Contestants must specialize in the humanities, social, exact, technical, or natural sciences.

Candidates of sciences, doctors of philosophy/doctors of arts, doctors of sciences, researchers without a scientific degree with full higher education (specialist, master) with research experience of at least seven years, with available publications (articles, monographs or same sections in monographs) in domestic or foreign scientific journals. They can also be cultural and artistic figures, specialists in librarianship and museum affairs, journalists, and public figures – with full higher education, work experience of at least seven years, significant professional achievements, etc. The application deadline for the Fulbright opportunity is October 15, 2021.

Fulbright grant and scholarships

The Fulbright Program in Ukraine offers the following grants, scholarships, and programs for researchers, faculty, and graduates of Ukrainian universities:

Grants for research at US universities (Fulbright Scholar Program) provide research at U.S. universities for four to nine months. Candidates and doctors of sciences can take part in the competition; researchers without a degree, journalists, cultural figures with at least 5 years of experience.

Grants for young researchers to conduct research at US universities (Fulbright Faculty Development Program). Grant’s purpose is to provide the opportunity to conduct research in US universities for one academic year. Eligibility requirements are as follows: the competition is open to teachers and researchers under the age of 40, with two years of professional experience who do not yet have a degree, as well as young candidates of science (no later than 5 years after the defense).

Scholarships for master’s studies at US universities (Fulbright Graduate Student Program) give the opportunity to study at American universities for one to two years to obtain a master’s degree. The competition is open to senior students, university graduates, and graduate students. Applicants must have at least a bachelor’s degree at the time of the scholarship.

Postgraduate Scholarships at US Universities (International Fulbright Science and Technology Ph.D. Program)

This is an opportunity to study at leading American universities at the graduate level for three years with the right to defend a Ph.D. Applicants must have at least a bachelor’s degree at the time of the scholarship.

Invitation program for American scientists

Ukrainian higher education institutions can invite American scientists for a period of two to six weeks or from one semester to two.
